There is a certain relief in change, even though it be from bad to worse! As I have often found in traveling in a stagecoach, that it is often a comfort to shift one's position, and be bruised in a new place. ~Washington Irving

Boo-Hooing at the Fair and Such

There is a little something you should know about Maddox. Well, actually, it is a big something. He is obsessed -yes, obsessed- with racecars. Anything with a steering wheel is a racecar to him. Anything that even looks like a steering wheel counts as a racecar.

Tonight we took him to the Northwest Florida Fair, which is about one minute from our house. I got excited for him when I saw this ride:

Now, I knew he wouldn't get on the toddler elephant ride or even the toddler airplane ride...but this had steering wheels! We took a chance and got him the tickets. He bravely climbed into his chosen set of wheels - the bright yellow truck with flames - and off he went around the track. After Lap 1, he was a lost cause. Red face, open mouth, tears streaming...it was so sad, but so funny too. And the best part was that no matter how hysterical he got, he kept steering that wheel.

Of course he couldn't stop talking about it afterwards. Tears aside, all he wants, as he will tell you 50 million times, is "mo' racecar."
